Key Holidays is putting vintage restored Pullman rail cars into service for a limited series of first-class trips from the Bay Area to Reno this summer.

The Pullman Gold Service travels on the Amtrak California Zephyr route from Emeryville to Reno. And also from Reno to Emeryville.

Connections are available to San Jose and San Francisco. Stops available as either boarding points or destinations include Richmond, Martinez, Davis, Sacramento, Roseville, Colfax and Truckee.

Passengers travel in panoramic dome cars while making the way over the Sierra Nevada. Meals are prepared by a chef and served aboard the cars.

“The increasing popularity of heritage train travel has resulted in a demand for new routes and services throughout the country,” said Edwin Ellis, president of Pullman Rail Journeys and its parent company Iowa Pacific Holdings LLC, in a news release.

One-way trips start at $229. There are also hotel packages available in Reno at several hotels and resorts in Reno.
